Golf Shop Manager

Position Summary

The Golf Shop Manager is responsible for daily operations of the golf shop, delivering outstanding guest service, managing retail sales, and overseeing food and beverage transactions. This position serves as the primary point of contact for golfers upon arrival and ensures a welcoming, organized, and efficient experience. This role does not require PGA certification or professional instruction experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Services

  • Greet all golfers and patrons warmly and professionally upon arrival
  • Maintain day-to-day reservation systems by reserving tee times, checking in golfers and processing payments
  • Ensure pace of play is monitored and communicated as needed
  • Handle guests’ questions, concerns, and special requests with courtesy and professionalism both in-person and by telephone
  • Ensure golf range services are welcoming and accommodating by ensuring the facility is set up and broken down daily, the facility is clean and that adequate, clean range balls are available at all times
  • Ensure outside service duties are performed, such as setting and maintaining the following: cart staging area, the driving range practice tees, putting green and short game area
  • Have working knowledge of all upcoming tournaments and programs to provide accurate information for guests
  • Promote a welcoming, hospitable, service-oriented environment at all times

Retail Operations

  • Manage golf shop merchandise including apparel, accessories, and equipment
  • Process retail sales accurately using POS system
  • Maintain organized, clean, and attractive merchandise displays
  • Assist with inventory control, ordering, receiving, and stocking
  • Track sales trends and assist ownership/management with purchasing decisions
  • Accurately reconcile cash register sales with daily sales reports at shift change points
  • Ensure the collection and recording receipt of appropriate payment (cash, credit card transactions) in accordance with company and City procedures
  • Maintain records of daily play on golf course and other data as directed
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Food & Beverage Sales

  • Ensure grab-and-go snacks and beverages are restocked
  • Ensure necessary food items such as condiments, bread/buns, hotdogs, burgers, shortening etc. for short order menu are adequately stocked
  • Assist guests with food and beverage orders and sales
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs
  • Maintain cleanliness and health standards for food distribution, food prep and beverage areas at all times

Operational Management

  • Open and close the golf shop according to procedures
  • Balance daily cash drawer and reconcile sales reports
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and check-in area
  • Coordinate with maintenance and grounds staff regarding daily play
  • Assist with tournaments and special events as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old, have a high school diploma or GED, or any combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform essential functions of the position
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in sales or customer service
  • Strong customer service and hospitality skills with retail or hospitality experience preferred
  • Basic cash handling and POS experience
  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours, as needed
  • Ability to occasionally lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, use tools or equipment requiring high degree of dexterity, and must be able to distinguish between shades of color, and/or move 10 lbs. or more, if necessary
  • Knowledge of golf is helpful but not required
